A leaf of Chiddushim on the Rambam regarding bringing Bikkurim from olive oil, in a letter by Rabbi Shlomo Lieben, with a response by his colleague, Rabbi Tzvi Cohen. [1] leaf. In his letter, Rabbi Shlomo Lieben explains why he felt compelled to reply quickly: “I did not want to be hasty in responding… but my heart is torn over the loss of Torah and its deep thinkers, and my soul weeps within me… for the understanding of the insightful ones has been hidden, and none answer calmly but only out of love of debate… Thus writes one who writes in haste, out of love of truth.” In response, Rabbi Tzvi HaKohen writes to him: “I received your letter in the shop, and I recalled what the Rambam z”l explained: ‘Do not be hasty in responding, ’ meaning that if a man asks you a matter of Torah, do not be confused or startled, but answer him immediately… Thus writes one who writes in the shop, without analysis… And I did not, Heaven forbid, write out of love of debate; on the contrary, my prayer is that the word of truth not depart from my mouth.” Rabbi Shlomo Lieben [of Prague?] – A responsum addressed to him from the year 1858, explaining the Rambam’s words, is quoted in Yad Elazar by the Gaon Rabbi Elazar HaLevi Ish Horowitz of Vienna, who refers to him as “my beloved friend, the distinguished, sharp, and expert rabbi, G-d-fearing among the many, Rabbeinu Rabbi Shlomo Lieben” Folding lines with wear and tiny holes along them, corner creases, slight edge wear.
