Harav Hachasid Meir David ben DovBer Rabinowitz (Rabinowitz / Rabinovitz / Rabinowitz) (c. 1863–1943) – “the renowned and praiseworthy pious rabbi” (Igrot Kodesh, I, 62). In his youth, he studied in his hometown of Chernigov under the Gaon Chasid Rabbi Peretz Chen, Av Beit Din of Chernigov, and his successor Rabbi David Tzvi Hirsch Chen, receiving rabbinic ordination from them. In 1896, he immigrated to the United States, and on his way received ordination in Kovno from Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch ben Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Spektor and other rabbis. He settled in Boston, Massachusetts, where he headed the Agudat HaSefardim, founded educational institutions, mikvaot, Sabbath-observance societies, and more. In his last fifteen years, he devoted himself to assisting Yeshivat Tomchei Temimim and communal matters under the guidance of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Fold marks, light stains, good condition.
