Authored by the renowned holy Rav Rabbi Wolf of Zhitomir. The title page states Koretz, [1798], yet this is a forged edition printed over ten years later, around 1810. Rare. [1], 260 leaves. Erroneous leaf numbering. Leaf [1] of the approbations is missing; the present exampler includes only the approbations of the holy Rav Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev and the holy Rav Rabbi Asher Tzvi of Ostroh. The holy Sefer Or HaMeir is among the earliest Sifrei Chassidut, extensively cited and referenced throughout generations by the Tzaddikim. The work was transcribed by the author’s disciple, the holy Rav Rabbi Eliezer Shub of Zhitomir, author of Pirkei HaNezer, who wrote on the title page that his Rebbi was cleaving to his Creator at every moment, in both movement and repose. The holy Rav, the Saba Kadisha of Ruzhin, spoke with awe of the Sefes’s great sanctity, as did many other Chassidic Tzaddikim through the generations. This Sefer includes the enthusiastic approbation of the holy Rav of Berditchev, together with additional approbations from other righteous leaders of the generation. The edition before us appears identical to the Koretz 1798 edition, yet while the original approbations prohibited reprinting for 15 years, this edition extends the restriction to 20 years. In the Poretzk 1815 edition, one of the original signatories clarified that this second edition, the one before us, contains a typographical error: נאמר משך עשרים שנה, טעות נפל בדפוס, כי אני בעצמי מנותני הסכמה וידוע לי שלא נתתי רק פעם הראשונ' וכמו כן כל נותני ההסכמה Rebound in new leather binding.
