Receipt for a Donation by the Tepliker Rov - with His Handwritten Signature - Receipt signed in the holy handwriting of the mighty Gaon of Teplyk, the master of halachic ruling and tradition, Rabbi Shimshon Aharon Polonsky. Jerusalem, 1942. Receipt issued by the Vaad Kollel Volhynia – on two printed documents with handwritten additions from the gabbai of the kollel. On the receipt document appears the handwritten signature of the Rav of Teplyk. The charity was distributed through the Gaon of Teplyk in 1942, as Kimcha DePischa for outstanding Torah scholars, men of spiritual stature. Rabbi Shimshon Aharon Polonsky, the “Teplyker Rav” (1876–1948), author of Mesoret HaPesak VeHalacha, raised generations of great rabbis and pillars of hora’ah. He served in the rabbinate of several cities until being appointed rabbi of Teplyk, where he served for about twenty years as Rav and Av Beit Din. Later, he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael and settled in a basement apartment in the Beit Yisrael neighborhood. Renowned for his vast knowledge, sharpness, and extraordinary breadth of Torah mastery. Many of the greatest halachic authorities were his disciples or served under him in halachic training – among them: Maran Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Fisher, Rabbi David Jungreis, Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner, Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, the Rishon LeTzion Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, and others.
