Luxurious Torah Mantle – 1926 - Torah mantle made of green velvet with embroidery and appliqués. Europe, 1926. The following is embroidered on the mantle: “D.B.W. (donated by the woman) Genendel daughter of R’ Menachem Mendel Schwartz, 1926 ”. Green velvet material, almost entirely faded. Appliqués and embroidered designs in various colors and using expensive materials which were innovative at the time. Appliqés of a crown and the two Tablets, usings white cloth. Emboidery of lions, supporting the Tablets, done in gold thread and other colors. Lettering done in gold thread and others. Original split in rear to allow for easy placement on the Sefer Torah. Remains of embroidered edging. Reinforced openings at the top for the handles of the Sefer Torah. Fair - relatively good condition.
