With dozens of handwritten lamdanus annotations. The Gaon Rabbi Moshe ben Rabbi Ephraim Chaskin (1874–1950) — studied with diligence in the city of Kovno, and on the recommendation of the Chofetz Chaim was accepted to serve the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Spektor for three years; afterwards he studied in the Old Kloyz in Vilna. From 1900–1914 he served in the rabbinate of Krakinova in Lithuania and founded a Yeshiva there, which served as a preparatory institution for the Slabodka Yeshiva. With the expulsion of the Jews from the Kovno district during World War I, he was exiled to the city of Priluk in Ukraine and was appointed Rav of the city in place of the Gaon Rabbi Yehudah Leib Tzirelson. After years of terror and persecution during World War I, he suffered greatly from prolonged persecution by the communists, until he succeeded in leaving Russian rule and immigrating to Eretz Yisrael in 1933. After settling in Jerusalem, he devoted his primary study to the Torah of Eretz Yisrael and authored the Sefarim Ohel Moshe on the Talmud Yerushalmi, Seder Zera’im, and Kalkeles Shevi’is on the Halachos of Shevi’is.
