Rabbi Yair Chaim ben Rabbi Moshe Shimshon Bacharach (1638–1702) — among the greatest Poskim of Ashkenaz. He authored dozens of Halachic works, including the renowned Shu”t Chavos Yair. He served in the rabbinate of Worms and additional communities. He was born with the name “Chaim, ” and the name “Yair” was added after he became ill. Stefansky, Sifrei Yesod — 303.
