Bidspirit auction | Sefer Yeshuot Yisrael, first part

Sefer Yeshuot Yisrael, first part on Choshen Mishpat, by the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Yehoshua Trunk, Av Beit Din of Kutna – Warsaw, 1870 – first edition – with dozens of glosses and corrections (possibly by the author?) – signatures. Bound with: Sefer HaPelaot Nedarim on Tractate Nedarim, by the Gaon Rabbi Yosef ben Rabbi Yaakov HaLevi of Zaleszczyki – Warsaw, 1865 – first edition – the author’s personal exampler, with his signature and glosses. On the title page of Yeshuot Yisrael appear signatures and ownership inscriptions of the Gaon Rabbi Elikim Getzel HaKohen Dichtwald, Av Beit Din of Yanov. The Sefer Yeshuot Yisrael is filled with glosses correcting printing errors and omissions. From the nature of the glosses, it appears highly likely that they are by the author himself, or by his son, the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Pinchas Trunk, who was the publisher of the Sefer. On the title page of HaPelaot Nedarim appears the author’s signature: ”יוסף לבית יעקב הלוי – המחבר” Several leaves of HaPelaot Nedarim contain handwritten glosses by the author. Yeshuot Yisrael: [1], 148, [2] leaves. HaPelaot Nedarim: [1], 87 leaves. 32 cm. Good condition. Stains. Wear and small tears to the margins of several leaves. New binding.
