Letter sent by the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Aboulafia, the Ḥacham Bashi and a Dayan in Tveriah, to Dr. Rupin regarding division of charity funds in Tveriah and Tzfas. 1914. In his letter, Rabbi Chaim Yisachar Aboulafia, who was a sixth generation descendant of Rabbi Chaim Aboulafia the second, complains that he became aware that the cities of Tveriah and Tzfas were allotted only 11% of the charity funds shipment. He describes the state of Tveriah and its poor, the disparity in the distribution vis-à-vis other, much smaller cities such as Jaffa. “In the name of our congregation I ask his honor that he do the utmost to correct this thing and to view our community with the right outlook according to its state and size, and I seek his peace with honorable sentiments”.
