Sefer Karnayim by Rabbi Aharon Ben Reb Avraham of Kardina, with the commentary Dan Yadin by the holy Rabbi Shimshon of Ostropoli, together with Likutei Shoshanim, containing letters of Rabbi Shimshon of Ostropoli. On the title page: דפוס שלמה בן חנניא, פאריצק, תקע”ח [1818] though the printing is from the press of Mordechai Horowitz, Kapust–Shklov, after 1818. Rare. [1], 12, 17–28, 25–41 leaves. Bluish paper. Ownership inscriptions on the title page, including 'לוי חיים לאקשין' and 'להדא בתולתא מרת שינא דבורה'. With stamps of '.ליבאוויטשער שוהלף וויניפעג, מאנ', and one marginal note in handwriting. The identity of the author of Sefer Karnayim is disputed. The Chida in Shem HaGedolim (Sefarim, §116) cites various opinions regarding the authorship. He further testifies that this Kabbalistic work is “very sealed and closed, ” and that the commentary of Rabbi Shimshon of Ostropoli, Dan Yadin, reveals the secrets and hints of the work “in the depth of halachah and perfection of kavanah.” Lacking front cover, spine loose, stains, worming, small defect at corner of title page, defect at edge of final leaf with slight loss of text, final leaf partially detached.
