Obligation Document for the Performance of a Proper, Fitting, and Free Chalitzah in the Event of His Brother’s Death – Düsseldorf, 1862 ”Since I desired with my good will and sound mind that if, Heaven forbid, my brother should pass away … I obligate myself to release [his wife] through a proper chalitzah, without payment, immediately after the completion of three months from my brother’s passing, when she will be fit for chalitzah.” – Obligation document given by R. Moshe son of R. Natan Katz to his brother’s wife, Mrs. Na’ah, daughter of the scholar Rabbi Eliezer. Düsseldorf, 1862.
