In his handwriting, with signature. ”And all who assist in this mitzvah—it will be considered for them as a great mitzvah, and their reward will be complete from Heaven, Amen” – A letter requesting support for an elderly G-d-fearing woman from a distinguished family in the Land of Israel. In the holy handwriting and with the signature of Rabbi Leib Friedman, Av Beit Din of Pressburg. [1] leaf, autograph letter with his stamp, written while serving as a dayan of the Pressburg community. [Pressburg, circa 1900]. Signed: “HaKatan Leib Friedman, son-in-law of the Gaon Rabbi Feish Fishman, zatz”al.” Most of the letter is written in Yiddish. Rabbi Yehuda Leib Friedman (1863–1919) – disciple of the Shevet Sofer in the Pressburg yeshiva. From 1895, he served as permanent dayan in Pressburg, and from 1908 as Av Beit Din of Pressburg. He also delivered lectures on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De’ah in the Pressburg Yeshiva. Author of Shu”t HaRavid. Son-in-law of Rabbi Shraga Feish Fishman, and father-in-law of Rabbi Yeshaya Kalisch HY”D, Av Beit Din of Pressburg. Tears and repairs along fold lines, stains, wear around the margins.
