Ksav Yosher, by Rabbi Mordechai Loewenstamm. Breslau, 1838. Sole Edition. Rare! “Men arose among the people of Israel, walking in darkness, groping like the blind; they mock the Torah of their fathers and ridicule the Musar of their mothers.” Ksav Yosher, a copied epistle containing eleven remarks in rhetorical style, by Rabbi Mordechai Loewenstamm. Breslau, 1838. A sharp polemic against the Reform movement. Sole and rare edition. 36 pages. This Sefer was written by the author as a keepsake for one of the members of the Breslau community, which he left after thirty-six years in order to return to his native city, Rotterdam in Holland. In Yodea Sefer, by Eliezer Rosenthal, p. 154, it is written that the reason the Chacham Rabbi Mordechai Loewenstamm left his position in the city of Breslau was “because of the agitator [the Reform leader Abraham] Geiger.” Without binding. Stains. Creases to some corners. Good condition.
