Two Proof Pages of the Foundational Book ”Erech HaShulchan” by Rabbi Yitzchak Tayeb, with Dozens of Handwritten Corrections Possibly by the Author Two proof pages of the well-known halachic book ”Erech HaShulchan” by Rabbi Yitzchak Tayeb of Tunis (uncle of the famous Rabbi Yitzchak Chai Tayeb – ”Lo Met”). The book was printed in the city of Livorno in 1791 (5551), and thus the pages before us were printed there approximately between 1790-1791 (5550-5551). The pages are printed on one side only, with numerous corrections and glosses added in handwriting, apparently in the author’s own hand. The glosses were incorporated into the standard printed edition. (A photocopy is attached). Rabbi Yitzchak Tayeb, one of the great rabbis of Tunis [circa 1710?–1830, 5470?–5590]. He authored ”Erech HaShulchan” on the Shulchan Aruch, ”Chukat HaPesach” on the laws of Passover, ”Vay HaAmudim” on the book ”Yereim, ” and more. this is a historical remnant of an interesting chapter in the history of Hebrew book printing. [2] pages, printed on one side. 30.5 cm. Condition: Fair. The pages were removed from a binding genizah. Defects and wear at the edges. On one page, the margins are torn.
