On the title page is the signature of the Gaon Rav Shmuel Menachem Cohen Tarver, Av Beis Din of Sachtshov. The Gaon, Rav Shmuel Menachem HaKohen Tarover, Av Beis Din of Sochatchov, is mentioned in Shu”t Maharam Shik (Chelek 2, Siman 7), and it is possible that the teshuvah in Shu”t Avnei Tzedek from the holy Gaon, the Baal HaYitev Lev (Yoreh De’ah, Siman 28), is also addressed to him. He served as Rav in Sochatchov and later resided in Warsaw. He is counted among the signatories on the sefer Geulas Yisroel (Warsaw 5664/1904).
