The Haggadah of Maran the Holy Gaon, the Steipler – Who Will Merit to Conduct Their Seder with This?! A Haggadah Shel Pesach, with the commentary of Rabbi Menachem ben Shlomo, the Me’iri, along with Lachma Anya VeHaleila D’Pischa by Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Rubin, Av Beis Din of Kortsheen, printed in Yerushalayim, 5726. On the flyleaf, it bears the ownership stamp of Maran the Holy Gaon, Rav Yaakov Yisroel Kanievsky, the Steipler Zt”l. Who will merit to conduct their Seder with this sacred Haggadah in their hands?! A majestic depiction of how Maran the Steipler Zt”l would recite the Haggadah and its zemiros is recorded by his talmid, Rav A. Halevi Horowitz, author of Orchos Rabbeinu: “All the years, my revered Rebbe Zt”l recited the Haggadah with calmness and did not explain peshatim in order to hasten the eating of matzah. During the meal, he would discuss divrei Torah and explanations on Yetzias Mitzrayim… My Rebbe recited the entire Haggadah until its conclusion… He sang ‘Vehi She’amda, ’ ‘Al Achas Kamah V’kamah, ’ and ‘B’tzeis Yisroel MiMitzrayim.’ The piyyut ‘Adir B’melucha’ he would sing with fiery enthusiasm, immense dveikus, with joy and awe, in a pleasant niggun. The other piyyutim of the Haggadah he did not sing, but rather recited them. Likewise, he recited ‘Echad Mi Yodea’… The piyyut ‘Chad Gadya’ he sang with a tune and translated it into Yiddish, saying: ‘Chad Gadya, ein tzigaleh… Chad Gadya, ein tzigaleh… d’zabin Abba—vos gekoyft der Tateh—b’trei zuzay, far zwei goldin.’ Similarly, my Rebbe recited Shir HaShirim...” (Orchos Rabbeinu vol. 2, p. 73).
