Peshavarsk Dynasty: Lengthy Letter from the Holy R’ Yankele of Peshavarsk Zt”l, in the Handwriting of His Son, the Gaon and Tzaddik R’ Leibush of Peshavarsk Shlit”a A lengthy letter from the holy R’ Yankele of Peshavarsk Zt”l, emphasizing the importance of printing the holy writings of the Gaon and Tzaddik, the Ohev Yisrael of Apte. The manuscript was written in year 1844. “And in this manuscript there are numerous additions to the printed sefarim, both new teachings and many additions and changes.” The content of the letter was written by his only son, the Gaon R’ LeibIsh, Rebbe of Peshavarsk Shlita, and, astonishingly, he even mentions himself within the text: (without honorifics, in his usual style): ”Indeed, I have not seen with my own eyes this manuscript, but I faithfully testify according to my beloved son R’ Leibush Shiy”n, who had the manuscript in his possession for a long time...” Both the content and wording of this letter are now published for the first time! This is an extremely precious item, a letter written by father and son, tzaddikim of the Peshavarsk dynasty. The letter was written on on Isru Chag Sukkos 1980, apparently at a time when the Rebbe of Peshavarsk Shlita traveled to celebrate the Yomim Tovim in the shadow of his holy father. He stood by his father’s side and wrote the entire text of the letter, upon which his father affixed his holy autograph.
