On the sha’ar appears a handwritten ownership inscription that the sefer “…shayach l’K”K Maran Av Beis Din d’Kalishin u’Parisa u’ha’galil…” This is the gaon ha’kadosh R’ Meir Shalom Rabinowitz of Kalishin ZY”A. This sefer is a foundational work in early Chassidic Torah, containing teachings and shmuos printed here for the first time from R’ Elimelech of Lizhensk and others. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • The Tefillah for Parnassah — First Printed Here In this sefer appears, for the first time in print, the pure tefillah of the mechaber beginning: “Ribbon HaOlamim yodati, yodati…” This tefillah became well known through his talmid, the Tiferes Shlomo of Radomsk ZY”A, who would recite it daily as a segulah for parnassah v’chol tov. It is printed at the beginning of the sefer (daf 2b). A Berachah for Zera Shel Kayama In the haskamah to the sefer, the mechaber’s son-in-law, R’ Menachem Mendel Rabin of Glogow, blesses his son R’ Yaakov Yosef, the one bringing the sefer to print: “…Zechus hadpasas ha’sefer ta’amod lo l’melitz yosher… u’v’zechus zeh yifkedeihu Hashem b’banim u’vanos oskim baTorah u’b’mitzvos…” From here became known the segulah that holding and preserving Or LaShamayim is a segulah for zera shel kayama. The Rebbe of Kalishin — Baal Nehar Shalom R’ Meir Shalom Rabinowitz of Kalishin (niftar 1903), Baal Nehar Shalom, was a towering tzaddik and baal mofes. A grandson of the Yehudi HaKadosh of Peshischa, and son of R’ Yehoshua Asher of Parisav, he was a talmid muvhak of R’ Yitzchak of Neshchiz and the Rebbe of Shinova. From his ksavim was later printed the sefer Nehar Shalom.
