“Timchelu lishlo’ach li afar Eretz Yisroel” A letter from R’ Eliezer Lipa of Ratzfert A letter entirely in the ksav yad kodsho of R’ Eliezer Lipa Silberman, Av Beis Din of Ratzfert, grandson and successor of the famed R’ Hirshka’le Ratzferter. Addressed to the מנהלים and גבאים of the funds of Tzedakas R’ Meir Baal HaNes in Eretz Yisroel. The great hisorerus and lifelong involvement of his zeide, R’ Hirtzka of Ratzfert, on behalf of the poor of Eretz Yisroel is well known. He himself served as a trusted גבאי for Tzedakas R’ Meir Baal HaNes. In this letter we see clearly how his grandson and successor continued in those very footsteps, laboring on behalf of acheinu bnei Yisroel in the Holy Land. In the letter, R’ Eliezer Lipa asks the nesi’ei ha’kollel to please send him soil from Eretz Yisroel — “al kol tzarah shelo tavo” — along with additional items, so that he would be able to fulfill the requests of donors to Tzedakas R’ Meir Baal HaNes.
