A ksav yad kodesh letter from the renowned tzaddik Rabbi Moshe Halberstam ZI”A — known to chassidim as R’ Moshe’le Shinover — son and successor of the Divrei Yechezkel of Shinova. Written while the Rebbe was staying in the healing baths of Krenitza, on Wednesday, Parshas Chukas… to the chassidic philanthropist R’ Avrohom Frenkil of Limanov. And then — a brachah that jumps off the page: “I daven on his behalf that the Ribbono shel Olam should help him, that his wife and his dear household should be in complete health — and that they should not need to seek their healing elsewhere, but rather, in their own home, their strength should return to them! And that he should merit to bring good news.” The Rebbe closes by writing how he awaits to hear good tidings and wishes him much hatzlachah. About R’ Moshe’le Shinover Rabbi Moshe Halberstam ZY”A was the eldest son and successor of the Divrei Yechezkel of Shinova. He grew up in the shadow of his holy grandfather, the Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz, who said extraordinary things about him and foretold that a time would come when crowds would press at his doors seeking his brachos. And so it was. In his generation he was known as a po’el yeshuos b’kerev ha’aretz — a tzaddik whose tefillos and brachos were a yeshuah for multitudes. He rests today in the ohel in Sanz, near the Divrei Chaim. The Recipient of the Letter The letter was sent to the philanthropist R’ Avrohom Frenkil z”l of Limanov — a grandson of the Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Horowitz ZY”A, and among the foremost chassidim of the Rebbe of Shinova.
