Kerestir Lineage — A Halachic Teshuvah with a Refuah Sheleimah for the Daughter of R’ Yeshaya’le of Kerestir! A handwritten halachic teshuvah by Rav Menachem Mendel Kahana, Dayan of Humenna, son-in-law of R’ Avraham’le of Kerestir. Addressed to his uncle, Rav Reuven Chaim Klein, Av Beis Din of Szinna, who was likewise a son-in-law of the ”mofes hador” R’ Yeshaya’le of Kerestir. Within the teshuvah, he pauses to inquire after his aunt — the daughter of R’ Yeshaya’le — who had been suffering: “…he conveyed to me the perisas shalom and said that, baruch Hashem, there has been improvement from the yissurim… and the Ribbono shel Olam should help further with a refuah sheleimah b’meheirah… I await good besuros.” On the reverse, his wife, the Rebbetzin, adds a warm Yiddish note to her aunt, the Rebbetzin of Szinna, also a daughter of R’ Yeshaya’le, overflowing with simple, heartfelt concern and brachos for refuah: “A heartfelt greeting from me as well… Dear aunt, how are you feeling? Are the pains already gone? I am very worried for you… Please write to me how the foot looks. I hope, im yirtzeh Hashem, to travel on Sunday, and then I should find you already much better. Remain well — wishing you a refuah sheleimah. Hentsha Miriam.” Rav Menachem Mendel Kahana was a grandson of the author of Orchos Chaim of Spinka, and for years sat at the table of his holy grandfather-in-law, R’ Yeshaya’le, and later at the table of his father-in-law R’ Avraham’le. Afterward he settled in Humenna, where he served as a prominent moreh hora’ah and around whom chassidim gathered. Rav Reuven Chaim Klein , Av Beis Din of Szinna and author of Mateh Reuven, was a talmid of the author of Pnei Meivin and of the tzaddikim of Munkatch, and a son-in-law of R’ Yeshaya’le of Kerestir.
