Kodosh V’Nora — Shu”t Shaar Ephraim from the Otzar of R’ Shalom of Kaminka and His Grandson R’ Elazar of Oshpitzin ZY”A Shu”t Shaar Ephraim , Sulzbach 1688, by the gaon R’ Ephraim HaKohen of Vilna, grandfather of the Chacham Tzvi. On the forzatz appears an early handwritten inscription: “Zeh sefer shayach l’harav ha’gaon ha’gadol ha’mefursam, kadosh, butzina kadisha, perishah chasida, k’shem tov Moreinu HaRav R’ Shalom HaLevi n”y, Av Beis Din d’Kaminka.” Also present is the stamp of his grandson: “Elazar HaLevi Rosenfeld, choneh poh Oshpitzin, b’hen ha’tzaddik mi’Kaminka, chasan ha’tzaddik mi’Sanz ztz”l.” An additional early signature appears on the title page: Yosef HaLevi of Halishoy… On the index leaf, an early handwritten note records a she’eilah regarding a neder b’rabim. R’ Shalom of Kaminka R’ Shalom HaLevi of Kaminka (1800–1852) was a talmid of the Rebbe of Ropshitz and the Sar Shalom of Belz, and a close associate of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. He was renowned as an iluy nifla, a gaon among geonim, and a tzaddik nishgav. It is told that he was particular to speak only divrei tzachus, and it was said that every word he uttered was with kedushah and taharah. The Rebbe of Satmar once remarked (Purim 1960): “Der heiliger Kaminker Rav — zayne verterlach zenen geven bloyz kedushah; s’iz darin gelegen a sach amkus.” Some of his Torah was printed in the sefer Ohev Shalom. Among his descendants were the tzaddikim of Bobov, as the Rebbe Reb Shloime of Bobov was a son-in-law of his son R’ Yehoshua of Kaminka. R’ Elazar of Oshpitzin R’ Elazar HaLevi Rosenfeld of Oshpitzin (1862–1943), known as “R’ Elazar’l Oshpitziner, ” was a son of R’ Yehoshua of Kaminka and a grandson of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. In 1936 he ascended to Eretz Yisroel, first to Tzfas and then to Yerushalayim, where he established his beis medrash. In 1939, due to health reasons, he returned to Poland, where he was niftar during the war in Sosnowitz. In recent years, his kever was rediscovered.
