Rav Eliezer Silver seeks to include the Satmar Rebbe and Rav Yonasan Shteif on a Rabbinic Vaad to battle the Assimilationist Sects A handwritten letter from Rabbi Eliezer Silver zt”l, Av Beis Din of Cincinnati and President of the Agudas HaRabbonim of the United States and Canada, written in 1953 to the director of the Agudas HaRabbonim office. In the letter, Rav Silver urges the formation of a special Vaad to wage an organized fight against the misbolelim and assimilationist groups. He proposes that many of the leading Rabbonim of Agudas HaRabbonim be included on this Vaad — among them Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, Rabbi Yaakov Kamenetsky, Rabbi Aharon Kotler zt”l, and others. He further suggests that it may be proper to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the leadership of Hisachdus HaRabbonim, and to invite the Satmar Rebbe zy”a and the gaon Rabbi Yonasan Shteif zt”l to serve as members of this Vaad as well.
