“U’Verach Es Lachmecha…” — A Letter of Berachah for Parnassah and Chaim Tovim From the Ahavas Yisroel of Vizhnitz ZTzok”l A letter of recommendation from the heilige R’ Yisroel Hager, Baal Ahavas Yisroel of Vizhnitz ZTzok”l, written Parshas Mishpatim 1930, on behalf of the gaon R’ Shlomo Zalman Katz, maggid and darshan in Grosswardein. The letter praises him in warm terms: “…- ”..שהרביץ תורה ברבים והעמיד תלמידים הרבה, על כן מהראוי לקרבו בכל מקום בואו ולכבדהו כיאות לאיש תלמיד חכם כמוהו..”…” Written by a sofer and bearing the signature of the Rebbe. A Remez of Berachah Within the Date Within the dating of the letter, the Rebbe weaves a remarkable remez for shefa berachah in parnassah and chaim tovim, writing: “…L’seder U’Verach Es Lachmecha — birkas chayim…” A subtle but powerful allusion to the posuk promising sustenance and blessing. The Heilige Ahavas Yisroel of Vizhnitz R’ Yisroel Hager, Baal Ahavas Yisroel (1860–1936), was born to R’ Baruch of Vizhnitz and raised under the close guidance of his zeide, the Tzemach Tzaddik of Vizhnitz, to whom he was especially beloved. In 1893 he assumed the leadership of Vizhnitz after his father’s petirah, and despite his youth, the chassidus flourished greatly under his hanhagah. During the First World War he was forced to flee to Grosswardein, where he later was niftar in 1936. He is known throughout the Torah world by his sefer Ahavas Yisroel. His descendants are the Admorim of the Vizhnitz dynasty.
