Megaleh Amukos al HaTorah — First Edition, Lemberg  1795 From the otzar of R’ Elazar’l Oshpitziner Megaleh Amukos, derushim on the Torah and mo’adim al pi kabbalah, by the gaon ha’mekubal R’ Nosson Nota Shapiro, Av Beis Din of Krakow. His earliest and most famous work, Megaleh Amukos — 252 ofanim on Parshas Va’eschanan (Krakow 1637) — became a יסוד in sifrei kabbalah and derush. The sefer before us expands his teachings across the entire Torah, filled with wondrous gematrios, notarikon, inyanim of gilgulim, and the yesodos upon which many later sifrei kabbalah are built. Printed in Lemberg, 1795, by the gevirah Yehudis, wife of R’ Tzvi Hirsch Rozanish, Av Beis Din of Lemberg. First edition, printed from a ksav yad that had been preserved in the beis genazav of the renowned gaon R’ Efraim Zalman Margolios of Brody, who relates this in his hakdamah to the sefer. This very copy later belonged to R’ Elazar HaLevi Rosenfeld of Oshpitzin (1862–1943), known as R’ Elazar’l Oshpitziner, son of R’ Yehoshua of Kaminka and a grandson-in-law of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. In 1936 he moved to Eretz Yisroel, first to Tzfas and then to Yerushalayim, where he established his beis medrash. In 1939, due to health concerns, he returned to Poland, where he was niftar in Sosnowitz during the war. In recent years, the site of his kever was rediscovered.
