A Sacred Treasure — The Satmar Rebbe’s Personal Yaavetz Siddur A rare and deeply revered siddur used for over a decade by the Rebbe — the towering leader of Hungarian Jewry, whose tefillos melted hearts and awakened an entire generation to avodas Hashem. This is the famed Siddur Beis Yaakov of Rabbi Yaakov Emden — known as the Yaavetz Siddur — cherished for its depth, its inclusion of the Arizal’s kavanos, and its unique place among the classic siddurim. This very siddur accompanied the Rebbe ZT”L for over a decade during special times and eis ratzon, serving as the keli through which he poured out his heart in tefillah for Klal Yisrael. Description Siddur Beis Yaakov of the holy Rabbi Yaakov Emden ZYA”A — photographic edition of the Lemberg 1904 print. Bound in an elegant leather binding prepared especially for the Rebbe, with his holy name engraved on the outer cover: “Yoel Teitelbaum” Also engraved on the cover is the name of the generous chassid who merited to present this siddur to the Rebbe: “Shlomo ben Sima Leiba” — R’ Shlomo Katz a”h, among the prominent Satmar chassidim and a devoted supporter of the Rebbe. Inside the siddur appears an additional inscription: Shmuel Alexander ben Malka — R’ Shmuel Alexander Wurtzberger a”h. Extensive Signs of Use This Siddur bears unmistakable evidence of continuous and devoted use for approximately twelve years (circa 1960–1972). Numerous folds, creases, and worn sections reflect the Rebbe’s holy practice of marking the places he returned to again and again during tefillah. Clear signs of use appear throughout the siddur, especially in the following sections: סדר התפלות מידי יום ביומו — the daily tefillos סדר ברית מילה — both the kavanos and the brachos and naming ברכת המזון — a known segulah for parnassah זמירות לליל שבת קודש והנהגת ליל שבת — Shabbos zemiros and the avodah of Friday night תפלת הרמב״ן — a segulah for zera shel kayama and children who are talmidei chachamim and yirei Hashem זמירות למלוה מלכה ופרשת וישלח — a segulah for parnassah and shemirah סדר בדיקת חמץ — Bedikas Chametz הגדה של פסח — as is well known, the Rebbe would use the Yaavetz siddur together with his Haggados תיקון ליל שבועות — Tikkun Leil Shavuos סדר תקיעת שופר — the avodah of tekias shofar, where the Rebbe followed the Arizal’s kavanos in this very siddur. Ashrei ha’am yod’ei teruah. סדר כפרות — Kaparos סדר הדלקת נר חנוכה — with visible oil stains still present from the holy neiros Provenance and Condition Preserved for decades by a prominent Satmar chassid who received it in 1972, this sacred siddur was guarded with exceptional reverence. It remains in remarkably fine and attractive condition, retaining its original tzurah and kedushah. A rare opportunity to acquire a true personal artifact of the Satmar Rebbe’s avodah — a siddur through which countless tefillos were poured out for Klal Yisrael.
