For the First Time — The Holy Signature of the Tiferes Shlomo ZYA”A On a Hesped for Maran the Chavos Daas — First Edition Sefer Avel Yachid — a hesped on the petirah of Rabbi Yaakov of Lisa ZT”l, author of the Chavos Daas and Nesivos HaMishpat — delivered in 1831 by R’ Avraham Dov Berish Flam, Maggid Meisharim of Mezritch, famed publisher of the ksavim of the Gra and the Maggid of Dubno, and author of Chesed L’Avraham. Printed in Warsaw, 1834 — first edition. On the sha’ar appears — twice — the holy signature of the heilige Rabbi Shlomo HaKohen Rabinowicz ZYA”A: “…לה׳ הארץ ומלואה… הק׳ שלמה הכהן, אב״ד ק״ק ראדאמסק…” The signature of the Tiferes Shlomo is extraordinarily rare to encounter — all the more so from his years in Radomsk, when tens of thousands looked to him as their manhig. Such a signature has not appeared in auctions. Why This Sefer Was in His Hands: In his youth, the Tiferes Shlomo was known as a lamdan charif of the first order, deeply immersed in the Torah of Rabbeinu Yaakov of Lisa. It is therefore no wonder that he acquired this very sefer — a hesped delivered upon the Chavos Daas by the famed Maggid R’ Avraham Dov Berish Flam, revered across Poland as a Maggid min Shmaya. (See the haskamos of the gedolei Poland to him in Shemen HaMor, Warsaw 1871.) About the Tiferes Shlomo Rabbi Shlomo HaKohen Rabinowicz (1801–1866) — tzaddik yesod olam and gaon mufla in nigleh and nistar — was renowned from his youth for his astounding geonus. It is related that he knew Urim VeTumim by heart. By the age of fifteen he had already authored several lomdishe chiburim, including a complete work on Maseches Kesubos. A wondrous maaseh is told that once, through the sound of his tekiah, a meis was revived — and from then he became known as a baal mofes. Later he attached himself to the derech haChassidus and became a talmid of the Saba Kadisha of Radoshitz ZYA”A and other tzaddikim. Thousands streamed to his door for eitzah and bracha. Rabbeinu saw as his shlichus to draw down hashpa’as ashirus to Klal Yisroel through his holy path. From his Torah came the famed sefer Tiferes Shlomo al haTorah and mo’adim, and more. A remarkable convergence: A hesped on the Chavos Daas — in a first edition — bearing the rare, holy signature of the Tiferes Shlomo of Radomsk.
