Zohar HaRakia on the Idra – Korets, 1785 – Kabbalah First Edition First edition of Zohar HaRakia, a commentary on the Idra based on the teachings of the Arizal, with the commentary of Hagaon HaKadosh Rabbi Yaakov Tzemach , author of Nagid U'Metzaveh, one of the greatest disseminators of the Arizal's Torah. Printed in Korets, 1785. Although the title page describes this as Part I, the continuation was published separately under the title Kol BaRamah. The sefer is adorned with the haskamah of Hagaon HaKadosh Reb Yaakov Yosef of Ostroh, author of Rav Yeivi, and others. Two noteworthy ownership inscriptions appear in the volume. One records ownership by ”...Avraham ben Reb Aryeh Leib of Horodno...” , apparently a descendant of the distinguished Horodno family of mekubalim. Another ownership inscription belongs to Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Shpilerayn of Warsaw, author of Machmadei Yosef on the Torah. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Hagaon HaKadosh Rabbi Yaakov Tzemach was among the greatest mekubalim of all generations and one of the foremost transmitters of the teachings of the Arizal. Raised in Portugal as a Marrano, he later openly returned to Yiddishkeit, eventually settling in Tzfas, Damascus, and Yerushalayim, where he became one of the leading תלמידי חכמים of the mekubalim. He devoted himself to preserving and arranging the kisvei Rabbi Chaim Vital, and, according to tradition, received permission through a she'eilas chalom to recover manuscripts that had been buried together with their author. Among his many celebrated seforim are Nagid U'Metzaveh, Kol BaRamah, Otzros Chaim, Adam Yashar, and numerous other foundational works in Kabbalah. A foundational first edition in the literature of Kabbalah, by one of the greatest transmitters of Toras HaArizal.
