Nachalas Shimon – Talmid of the Noam Elimelech – First Edition – Laszczow, 1815 Rare first edition of Nachalas Shimon, divrei Torah and Chassidus on the parshiyos HaTorah by the holy gaon and tzaddik Rabbi Shimon Deutsch Ashkenazi , Av Beis Din of Dobromil and a prominent talmid of Rabbeinu Elimelech of Lizhensk, printed in Laszczow, 1815. In Parshas Va'eira, the author cites his rebbe, the Noam Elimelech , writing: “וכן הוא בספר מו”ר הרב הקדוש מו”ה אלימלך זצללה”ה”. Most of the author's kisvei yad were lost in a fire, making Nachalas Shimon among the few surviving remnants of his Torah. The sefer is cited frequently in the writings of gedolei haChassidus. ”Kol Devarav K'Gachalei Eish” Rabbi Shimon was renowned for the extraordinary hislahavus of his tefillos. A well-known story relates that on Yom Kippur, during the פיוט of Mar'eh Eish, the city of Dobromil suddenly became engulfed in flames. The mispallelim cried out to Rabbi Shimon to cease his fiery avodah, whereupon the blaze immediately subsided. From that time onward, Mar'eh Eish was no longer recited in Dobromil. Rabbi Shimon was equally renowned as a gaon and baal hora'ah, descending to the very depths of every sugya. Among those who spoke of him in the most glowing terms were Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Yalish, author of Melo HaRo'im, and Rabbi Yaakov Ornstein, author of Yeshuos Yaakov.
