First Printing of the Torah of the Ohev Yisroel – Toras Emes – Published by the Tiferes Shlomo from the Ksav Yad of Rabbi Yissochar Ber of Radoshitz – Lemberg, 1854 Toras Emes , Torah teachings on the weekly parshiyos of Rabbeinu Avraham Yehoshua Heshel of Apta, the Ohev Yisroel , recorded by his foremost talmid, Rabbi Yissochar Ber of Radoshitz. First edition. Lemberg, 1854. The Torah in this sefer was recorded with great reverence by Rabbi Yissochar Ber of Radoshitz , who personally merited to hear these divrei Torah from the holy mouth of his rebbi, the Ohev Yisroel . After his passing, the Tiferes Shlomo of Radomsk obtained his ksav yad and brought these teachings to print. Unable to oversee the printing himself, he entrusted the work to his close disciple, Rabbi Yitzchak Moshe Silberstein , and wrote one of his rare haskamos for the sefer. In his haskamah , the Tiferes Shlomo writes: ”...Hashem inspired my dear friend, Rabbi Yitzchak Moshe, to fulfill our heartfelt desire by bringing to print the kisvei kodesh hakodoshim of the true tzaddik, Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heshel of Apta and Mezhibuzh, which until now had remained hidden in the handwritten manuscripts of my master, Rabbi Yissochar Ber... .” He further testifies that Rabbi Yissochar Ber was the Ohev Yisroel's foremost talmid, who personally merited to hear these ”living words, the allusions and secrets of Torah” from his rebbi. Many of the Torah teachings first printed in this sefer were later published, with variations, in the celebrated Ohev Yisroel printed in Zhitomir in 1863. This is the first appearance in print of many of the Ohev Yisroel's Torah teachings. The title page likewise emphasizes that the sefer was copied from the writings of Rabbi Yissochar Ber, ”who was the foremost talmid of the author and personally merited to hear these living words, the allusions and secrets of Torah, from the mouth of the author.” Ownership signature on the title page:  ”...Mordechai Reich of Bendin...”
