Once, while he was delivering a derashah on Shabbos Kodesh concerning the deceit of Lavan HaArami, the Arizal entered. Suddenly, the Arizal was seen smiling. When asked why, he replied that from Shamayim they had brought Lavan himself to hear the derashah on his many forms of deceit, and when the Alshich reached the hundredth example, Lavan laughed, saying that even such a deception had never entered his mind. The Alshich HaKadosh was among the gedolei Tzfas, received semichah from the Beis Yosef , and was mekurov to the Arizal, who testified that he was ” mechaven la'emes in his derashos .” He was also the rebbe who granted semichah to Reb Chaim Vital.
