The Ribnitzer Rebbe's Personal Tallis!  Worn Daily in His Avodas HaKodesh – Bearing Bris Bloodstains from His Years as a Mohel! ”Bigdei Yesha, Me'il Tzedakah” — the personal tallis in which the holy  Ribnitzer Rebbe זי”ע wrapped himself during his tefillos and avodas Hashem. A woolen tallis adorned with a finely braided silver atarah , handcrafted with exceptional workmanship. The tzitzis remain tied in the traditional chulyos of the tzaddikim of Russia. Clearly visible upon the tallis are bloodstains from brissim , preserved from the many infants whom the Ribnitzer Rebbe brought into the Bris of Avraham Avinu while serving as a mohel. This is the very tallis in which the Ribnitzer Rebbe davened every weekday and every Shabbos during his first year in America , from before Pesach 1974 , using it for at least half a year, and possibly close to a full year, until he presented it as a gift in 1975 to R' Binyamin Eisner, one of those closest to him during his early years in America. Since then it has remained carefully preserved in the family's possession. Accompanied by a handwritten letter of authenticity from the recipient. Rav Chaim Zanvil Abramowitz of Ribnitz (1898–1995) devoted his life to preserving Torah and mitzvos under the Communist regime in Russia, risking his life countless times. Revered throughout the Jewish world for his extraordinary kedushah and avodas Hashem, thousands flocked to him after his arrival in America seeking brachos, guidance, and yeshuos, and countless stories of open miracles became associated with his name. Among the greatest expressions of his mesirus nefesh was his lifelong dedication to performing bris milah under Communist rule. Time and again he secretly circumcised Jewish children despite the mortal danger involved, including the sons of senior Communist officials, often without the father's knowledge. One of the best-known episodes tells of a Jewish woman whose husband held a high-ranking position in the Soviet military. She begged the Ribnitzer Rebbe to perform a bris for their son in secret. The Rebbe arrived together with the renowned Chabad chossid Rav Mendel Futerfas , who served as the sandek while the Rebbe performed the bris. Suddenly the bleeding would not stop, placing everyone present in immediate mortal danger should they be discovered. The Ribnitzer Rebbe drew his tallis over his head together with the infant and poured out his heart in tefillah: ”Ribbono Shel Olam, I came here to fulfill Your mitzvah—please do not put me to shame.” Instantly, before the eyes of all those present, the bleeding stopped. The very tallis before us still bears the bloodstains from those holy brissim—silent testimony to the Ribnitzer Rebbe's mesirus nefesh to bring Jewish children into the Bris of Avraham Avinu under the shadow of Communist persecution.
