Antique DuPont Red Cross Extra Dynamite Wooden Explosives Crate - This antique industrial wooden shipping crate was manufactured for E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company to transport Red Cross Extra Dynamite. The crate is constructed from solid wood featuring finger-jointed or box-joint corners for structural integrity. The front panel displays comprehensive stenciled markings including an arched DU PONT EXPLOSIVES title above a central red-painted cross graphic flanked by the words RED and CROSS. Additional text on the front indicates a 25 LBS. capacity, 1 1/4 X 8 stick dimensions, EXTRA DYNAMITE, 40% STRENGTH, 6-R, and 30 MT. Both end panels are stenciled with HIGH EXPLOSIVES and DANGEROUS along with a boxed regulatory mark I.C.C.-14, referring to Interstate Commerce Commission specifications. The rear panel features a large branded DU PONT oval logo. The interior is open and displays staining and dust consistent with previous contents.
