Enterprise Mfg. Co. 2-Quart Cast Iron Sausage Stuffer and Fruit Press - This is an antique 2-quart multi-purpose press manufactured by the Enterprise Manufacturing Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The unit is constructed from heavy cast iron with a black japanned finish, featuring decorative gold-tone pinstriping around the main cylinder and red accents on the four integrated feet. The mechanical assembly utilizes a horizontal hand crank with a turned wooden handle that operates a bevel gear set to drive a central threaded screw rod and internal plunger. The base includes an integrated discharge spout and mounting holes on the feet for securing the press to a flat surface. The front arch is embossed with ENTERPRISE MFG CO, PHILA, DELPHIA, and PAT. JULY. 11. 1876. The back arch is embossed with PATENTED on the left and APRIL 10, 1883 on the right. The main cylinder is stenciled with 2 QT in yellow/gold lettering. Lubrication points are indicated by the embossed word OIL near the gear mechanism and crank housing. This type of press was historically used for stuffing sausages, pressing lard, or extracting fruit juice.
