Antique German Child's Nineteen-Bar Metallophone in Original Lithographed Box - This child's metallophone, also known as a glockenspiel, is mounted within its original rectangular storage case. The instrument consists of nineteen metal bars, each stamped with a musical note letter ranging from C to G across more than two octaves. The inclusion of the letter H to represent B-natural confirms the instrument's German origin. The bars are finished in alternating colors of silver, yellow, orange, and green, and are secured with metal pins to a wooden frame finished in a dark red paint. The interior lid features a printed instructional guide displaying solfege syllables, a musical staff with notation, and corresponding letter names. The case is constructed from wood and heavy cardboard, covered in decorative lithographed paper. The exterior lid displays two central panels depicting children in traditional Central European folk attire playing musical instruments in a pastoral landscape, framed by ornate borders featuring floral motifs and musical instruments such as guitars and horns. The interior of the case is lined with paper printed in a basket-weave pattern.
