Antique No. 12 Gate-Marked Cast Iron Skillet with Fancy Handle and Inset Heat Ring - An antique cast iron skillet of large proportions, featuring a size 12 marking on the handle. The top of the handle at the join is marked with a horizontal bar, with the digit 1 positioned above and the digit 2 below. The handle is a fancy handle style, characterized by a reinforced V-shaped join and a pointed teardrop hanging hole. The base of the skillet features a prominent horizontal raised gate mark across the center, indicating 19th-century casting techniques. It also includes an inset circular heat ring located near the outer edge. The pan is equipped with two integral pour spouts. This piece is unattributed to a specific manufacturer, which is typical for gate-marked ironware from the mid-to-late 1800s.
