Bidspirit auction | George Flett, Signed Native American
George Flett, Signed Native American Horseman Print - This framed print on paper, likely a serigraph or offset lithograph, is by the Spokane artist George Flett (1946?2013). The composition depicts a Native American warrior in traditional regalia, including a feathered headdress, beaded elements, and a decorated shield, mounted upon a spotted Appaloosa horse. The scene is set within a stylized prairie landscape under a vibrant yellow sun. The artwork utilizes Flett?s signature stippled or ”spattered” paint technique in the sky and background, which also features several faint, spectral figures on horseback receding into the distance. An inscription in the lower left corner reads, ”GRAND FATHER TOLD ME THE EAGLE AND DEER? WE ARE BROTHERS?”. The work is signed ”George Flett” in the lower right corner. The piece is housed in a contemporary stained oak-finish wood frame with a double mat of blue and brown. The verso is sealed with corrugated cardboard and includes a sawtooth hanger for wall mounting.
