Antique Brass Horse Harness Shaft Bells on Leather - 44 inches long. This lot consists of a set of brass bells mounted on a black leather harness strap, traditionally used as hames or shaft bells for horse-drawn carriages or sleighs. The collection features an alternating arrangement of two bell types: open-mouthed flared bells and closed spherical crotal bells. The open-mouthed bells are cast in varying sizes and contain internal metal clappers. The crotal bells are cast with decorative petal-like patterns and house internal metal rattles. The bells are attached to a heavy black leather strap that features a metal buckle at one end and a shaped leather loop at the other. The brass components exhibit a dark, naturally aged patina. No visible maker marks, brand names, or country-of-origin stamps are present on the bells or the leather mounting.
