Villeroy & Boch Nelly Earthenware Washroom Set - This grouping of washroom ceramics is attributed to Villeroy and Boch in the Nelly pattern, dating to the late 19th century. The set is constructed from glazed earthenware and features a multi-color transfer-printed design with hand-enameled accents. The Japanesque pattern consists of large peonies, chrysanthemums, and assorted foliage populated by various birds, including a peacock and small songbirds, rendered in a palette of terracotta, pink, blue, and brown on a cream ground. The collection includes a large wash basin, a matching pitcher or ewer, a covered chamber pot with a single handle, and a large two-handled slop jar with a recessed lid featuring a central aperture and a bar handle. The pieces are finished with a repeating stylized geometric and floral border at the rims and bases. The underside of the chamber pot is marked with the handwritten pattern number B.846 in red ink, a small red p, an impressed capital D, and a small black mark resembling an x.
