Pair Franklin Mint Gold on Str. Train Silhouettes - A pair of metallic silhouette artworks produced by The Franklin Mint in collaboration with the National Railway Museum, depicting the historic steam locomotives The Orient Express and The Flying Scotsman. Each piece is crafted from 24 karat gold electroplate on a sterling silver base and mounted against a dark, contrasting background. The Orient Express silhouette commemorates the 100th anniversary of its inaugural run and features a Certificate of Authenticity on the reverse dated May 16, 1983, with the signature of Michael C. Boyd, Vice President of Collector Relations. The Flying Scotsman silhouette depicts the LNER number 4472 locomotive and includes a Certificate of Authenticity dated July 9, 1984, signed by A. William Johnston. Both works are presented in matching dark-finished wooden frames with acrylic glazing. The reverse of each frame contains extensive historical text regarding the locomotive's technical specifications and service history.
