Monarch Mfg Co Oak Magneto Wall Telephone - An antique wall-mounted magneto telephone produced by the Monarch Telephone Manufacturing Company of Fort Dodge, Iowa. The cabinet is constructed from quartersawn oak featuring a prominent tiger oak grain and a slanted writing shelf at the base. The unit is equipped with a top-mounted ringer assembly consisting of twin metal bells and a hand-turned crank on the right side. The front features a black-finished metal transmitter arm and mouthpiece. A separate black receiver earpiece is suspended from a hook-switch on the left side of the cabinet. The face of the transmitter is adorned with a curved brass plate embossed with MONARCH TELEPHONE MFG. CO. FORT DODGE, IOWA. A second brass plate positioned below the mouthpiece is embossed with the serial number L240294. A rectangular metal nameplate is mounted on the front of the oak cabinet featuring the Monarch script logo and company location.
