Vtg Premier Brand Santa Clara Prunes Wooden Crate - A vintage rectangular wooden shipping crate for Premier Brand food products. The crate is constructed from softwood panels joined with nails. It was originally used for the distribution of Santa Clara prunes by Francis H. Leggett and Co., a wholesale grocery firm based in New York. The side panel features stenciled black graphics with the word Premier in stylized script above the words FOOD PRODUCTS in block capitals. One end panel contains detailed product and distributor information, including FRANCIS H. LEGGETT and CO. NEW YORK U.S.A. DISTRIBUTORS, 40-50 PRUNES, SANTA CLARA, SELECTED, and weight specifications of 28 LBS. GROSS and 25 LBS. NET. The Premier Brand logo with a registration mark is also visible on this panel. The interior of the crate is unfinished wood showing natural grain and staining.
