Ashcroft Type 1038 Railroad Air Brake Duplex Gauge - This is an Ashcroft Type 1038 duplex air brake pressure gauge designed for railroad use. The instrument features a metal dial face set within a heavy metal case and secured by a wide brass bezel. The dial contains a non-linear scale with numerical markings from 10 to 200. Central text on the dial reads AIR BRAKE, with smaller text identifying the functions of the two indicators as RED HAND - MAIN RES. and BLACK HAND - EQ'L'G. RES. The manufacturer's shield-shaped logo is located at the bottom center, marked 1850 ASHCROFT U.S.A., with TYPE 1038 printed directly above. The base of the dial is marked PATENT DATES INSIDE. The unit includes two separate threaded pressure inlets at the bottom. The rear of the case features a wide mounting flange with three pre-drilled holes for installation. A modern pink adhesive label with the hand-written number 70 is attached to the glass.
