Crouse & Peters, Currier & Ives, 2 Vols, 1936-42 - Two hardcover volumes concerning the history and lithographic works of Currier and Ives. The first volume is titled Mr. Currier and Mr. Ives: A Note on Their Lives and Times by Russel Crouse, published by the Garden City Publishing Company, Inc., Garden City, New York, 1936 (MCMXXXVI). This book is bound in tan publisher cloth with red decorative borders and titles on the front cover. It contains 32 illustrations in color and black and white, featuring a color frontispiece titled The Road - Winter. The second volume is Currier and Ives: Printmakers to the American People by Harry T. Peters, published by Doubleday, Doran and Co., Inc., Garden City, New York. This is a large-format quarto bound in beige boards with a grey ornamental border and a black title panel on the front cover inset with a color illustration of The Road - Winter. It includes numerous plates, including a color frontispiece of Home to Thanksgiving and thematic plates such as The Tree of Life and Mississippi River scenes. Both volumes feature pink auction stickers numbered 127 on the front covers.
