Set Chinese Mun Shou Pattern Porc. Tea & Serveware - This set of porcelain serveware features the Mun Shou pattern, a well-known variation of the famille rose style produced for export. The collection includes a teapot with its lid, a lidded mug, and two small bowls. Each piece is decorated with a vibrant rose-red overglaze enamel ground characterized by scrolling foliate motifs. Within white circular medallions are the hand-painted characters ? (wan), ? (shou), ? (wu), and ? (jiang), which together form a traditional wish for boundless longevity. The lidded mug is further distinguished by two rectangular panels depicting polychrome figural scenes of scholars and immortals in garden landscapes. The rims and bases are finished with traditional geometric key-fret and ruyi-head borders in yellow, blue, and green enamels. The base of the teapot features a red stamped mark with the characters ????? (Zhongguo Jingdezhen) above the English text MADE IN CHINA and the factory/decorator code =08=. This mark indicates the set was manufactured in Jingdezhen, China, during the mid-to-late 20th century.
