The mantel is designed in a traditional Neo-Classical revival style, featuring a stepped top shelf over a central frieze with a raised arched molding and a decorative keystone block. The sides are detailed with fluted pilasters resting on a tiered plinth base. It is constructed of wood with a medium-brown stain that includes factory-applied distressing, such as simulated wormholes and surface abrasions, to create an aged appearance. The electric insert is housed in a black metal case with a tempered glass front and contains a faux log set designed to produce a flickering flame effect. The upper portion of the firebox features a grill for heater vents and a control panel with red indicator lights. A manufacturer's label on the back of the insert identifies the unit as Model ADL-2000M-X, manufactured by Yi Wu Andong Electrical Appliances Co., Ltd. in August 2007. Electrical specifications are 120V, 60Hz, and 1500W, and the unit is cULus listed.
