American Renaissance Revival Walnut & Marble Chest - 40x18x39.5 This American Victorian Renaissance Revival chest of drawers, produced circa 1870?1880, is constructed of walnut with pine or poplar secondary wood. The piece is surmounted by a beveled white marble top featuring gray veining. The chest contains four full-width drawers, each adorned with applied moldings that form recessed panels with notched or eared corners. The case features paneled sides and is accented with carved corbels at the upper corners and additional carved decorative elements near the base. It stands on a simple plinth base with turned circular feet. The drawers are fitted with brass drop-ring pulls on rectangular backplates and circular metal escutcheons for keys. The back is composed of vertical planks of secondary wood. A handwritten number 34 in white chalk or grease pencil is present on the rear panel.
