L. D. Caulk Co. Frosted Glass Mixing Slab w/ Gauge - 3x6x1A dental laboratory instrument manufactured by the L. D. Caulk Company of Milford, Delaware. The device consists of a heavy, rectangular block of translucent frosted glass designed to serve as a mixing slab for dental cements and restorative materials. Embedded within the center of the block is a circular gauge with a cream-colored face and a central red-tipped needle. The gauge features two curved color-coded scales in pink and white. The face is printed with the text L. D. CAULK CO. at the top right, MILFORD, DEL. at the bottom, and PATENTED on the left side. Indicators on the dial include the words MOIST and RANGE next to the number 75. This instrument was utilized in dental practices to monitor environmental humidity and temperature levels, which are critical factors during the preparation and setting of specific dental materials.
