Renaissance Revival Brass Dolphin Lamp Base - 11in dia This antique lamp base is designed in the Renaissance Revival style and features a large, domed metal font cover supported by three cast brass or bronze feet. The domed body is constructed of metal with a dark maroon or deep brown painted finish, accented at the lower edge with a brass beaded trim. The three ornate support feet are cast in the form of stylized classical dolphins or sea monsters, characterized by detailed scales, prominent fins, and expressive faces. The top of the assembly includes a cast brass font collar and font top leading to a pull-chain electrical socket. The underside of the base is enclosed with a circular perforated metal plate, secured with slotted screws through the feet. The side of the brass socket is incised with partial markings including PAT'D and a date beginning with JUL, although the remaining text is obscured by wear and hardware. The style and materials are consistent with American or European decorative metalware produced between 1890 and 1915.
