Wilcox Crittenden Copper & Brass Lifeboat Lantern - A maritime electric hand lantern manufactured by Wilcox, Crittenden and Co., Inc. of Middletown, Connecticut. The lantern is constructed with a cylindrical copper body and brass fittings. It features a clear glass Fresnel-style lens at the top with horizontal ribbing for light magnification. Adjacent to the lens is a knurled brass screw-cap port cover or switch, which is tethered to the body by a brass ball chain. The lantern is equipped with a wire bail handle for carrying and a small metal loop near the base. An embossed oval maker's plate is attached to the underside of the base with the following text: WILCOX, CRITTENDEN & CO., INC. surrounding a stylized WC monogram with a cross, and MIDDLETOWN, CONN. U.S.A. at the bottom. Height: 10 - 12 inches.
